Governor Cooper announced that there would be $194M in loans and grants to improve drinking water and wastewater projects across the state. According to the press release, 54 projects will be funded in total.

The State Water Infrastructure Authority approved the projects earlier in July.

“North Carolina’s communities need strong, resilient water infrastructure to support economic development,” said Governor Cooper in the release. “This funding provides water and wastewater improvements essential for clean water, public health and a brighter economic future.”

The funding is provided through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program, Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan program, the Wastewater State Reserve Program and through the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Act, the press release states.

Notable projects will receive funding in Martin County, Rockingham County, Richmond County, Pender County and more. The full list is included in the press release.
