Governor Roy Cooper shared words of encouragement in a video released for graduating high school seniors in North Carolina, according to Patch. Many will not be able to experience a traditional graduation ceremony due to social distancing measures and continued stay-at-home orders.

“I know it’s hard for many of you not to be able to walk across the stage in front of a crowd to get your degree,” Cooper said in social media posts. “But don’t let this crisis crush your dreams. You’re resilient. You’re ready. And your state needs you to do great things.”

“I am so proud of the class of 2020,” Cooper added. “Congratulations and good luck, guys.”
