New polling released from North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling shows broad and consistent support for Governor Cooper’s leadership during the coronavirus pandemic. 

Respondents in North Carolina approve of Governor Cooper’s handling of the virus by a wide margin, with 62% favorable. In that regard, Governor Cooper outpaces President Trump by 43 points.

North Carolinians also trust Governor Cooper more than President Trump to protect the state from coronavirus: 58% prefer Cooper to 33% preferring Trump.

Even more respondents prefer Governor Cooper deciding when and how to reopen North Carolina, with 62% indicating the governor is better suited to make the decision.

These numbers track with previous polls showing a groundswell of support for Governor Cooper’s leadership during the coronavirus. Polling consistently indicates that North Carolinians trust and support the governor far more than federal authorities to navigate the crisis.
