Grifols announced their intent to bring hundreds of jobs and more than $350 million in investments to Johnston County. The money would build a specialized blood plasma facility, according to WRAL TechWire. This is in addition to another state-of-the-art facility Grifols is building in the Clayton area.

Clayton is now one of the world’s largest manufacturing areas for plasma-derived medicines, employing more than 1600 people, WRAL TechWire reports.

“Companies like Grifols continue to choose expansion in North Carolina because our workforce can meet their needs of this important facility,” said Governor Cooper. “During this public health crisis, we have seen the value of manufacturing close to home and this expansion means new, life-saving medicines will be manufactured in Clayton.”

According to the Economic Investment Committee, the project should increase North Carolina’s gross domestic product by some $1.7 billion and increase net state revenue by about $57 billion, according to the article.
