As the need for PPE continues to grow, one High Point company is pivoting away from their typical product line. Culp, Incorporated is a bedding and upholstery manufacturer. Now, they’ve switched production to make face masks.
“We are not a mask manufacturer by trade, but we do have equipment and resources that we can reallocate,” Iv Culp told WRAL. Culp is the CEO of Culp, Incorporated. “We are making quite a bit of masks, and we have been ramping up week by week.”
Culp isn’t being modest. Site manager Jeff Veach said that in the coming weeks they will expect to make over a million masks total. “So far, today, we’re mass producing a basic 100% cotton, 3-layer antimicrobial mask,” Veach told WRAL.
