A recent poll conducted by SurveyUSA on behalf of WRAL showed a clear majority of support for Governor Cooper’s position on Medicaid expansion.

Nearly sixty percent (57%) of respondents were in favor of Medicaid expansion, Governor Cooper’s policy position and an ongoing priority. Less than one third (30%) backed the Republican leadership position, including Lt. Governor Dan Forest, of refusing expansion.

Medicaid expansion would provide health care to hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians, create jobs in the health care industry and beyond, and help stem the tide of rural hospital closures, according to reports.
