Will Sutton starts his days in the weight room, training as a powerlifter. After that, he heads a classroom at Croatan High School in Carteret County where he teaches agriculture just as his father did. But now Sutton is taking his passion for powerlifting to the silver screen. The North Carolinian is soon to appear on NBC’s competition show called The Titan Games, WITN reports.
Sutton hopes that his work making it onto the program can be an inspiration for others. “It doesn’t matter where you come from, it matters how much effort you put into it,” Sutton told WITN.
“I grew up playing sports. As soon as I could walk, I was hitting a baseball off a tee, and I’m very competitive. It doesn’t matter what it is, I’m very competitive, and I want to teach the students how being competitive is good for them,” he told WITN in an interview.
After seeing an advertisement for the show before he showed a clip for class to his students, Sutton decided to submit a tape to be considered.
Johnathan Rigsby, his trainer, knew he was cut out for it.
“You know, he’s a character. I was like, this is it. This is gonna be his shot. I didn’t have any doubt, I knew he was going to get into the show.”
