Daniel Toben volunteers in Durham picking up trash that litters the area. He’s done it for over ten years in the Triangle, and even though the pandemic has changed much of how daily life goes on, Toben continues that tradition. Spectrum covered his efforts.
“For me personally, I still wanted to make a contribution to the community during the Coronavirus,” he says.
On top of his volunteer work, Toben still works two jobs. He wears a mask and gloves as he collects trash.
“My hope is that during this time when many of us are slowing down and some of us are not working that we will use this time, that slower pace, to reflect on our lives and how we want to restart once things kind of go back to normal,” he told Spectrum.
