According to PolitiFact, President Trump’s suggestion to North Carolinians who are voting by mail to vote twice to check their ballots get counted is a bad idea. In fact, “It is a felony to vote twice in North Carolina. Federal law also bans double voting in federal elections,” PolitiFact states.
Although his spokespersons tried to clean up his comments, Trump doubled down on Twitter by telling his supporters that they should visit in-person polling locations to check and see if they are able to vote again.
At an event in Winston-Salem, President Trump again told voters to visit polling places to check whether their ballots were counted. “That’s something election officials here are recommending against, saying it could make Election Day more chaotic and increase the risk of people spreading the coronavirus,” the Winston-Salem Journal reports.
