As businesses struggle to keep doors open during the coronavirus pandemic, local groups are banding together to help laid off employees.
Raleigh chef Ashley Christensen is joining with the Frankie Lemmon Foundation to launch the Triangle Restaurant Workers Relief Fund, according to WRAL.
The fund is available for wait staff, bartenders, hosts, managers, delivery drivers, cooks, catering staff and dishwashers who are affected by coronavirus layoffs or wage disruption, WRAL reports.
Grants for the fund will be provided by an independent committee of non-restaurant owners.
“I have had a long relationship with Frankie Lemmon School, and we knew that they would be the perfect partner in helping our community with immediate fundraising needs,” Christensen said.
