In an Outer Banks thrift shop, an unlikely treasure appeared when a volunteer sorted through donations to price: an original Salvador Dali wood engraving.
Upon its discovery, the volunteer Wendy Hawkins took the piece to be appraised and verified. Now, a couple from Portsmouth is expected to purchase the artwork for $1200, according to The Virginian-Pilot.
Of a number of copies of the illustration, this piece is one of 150 known to have an original signature.
The thrift shop, operated by Outer Banks Hotline, helps fund shelters for runaway teens and victims of domestic violence, according to The Virginian-Pilot.
