Visitors to the North Carolina Zoo have noticed a new member of the giraffe exhibit. The Asheboro facility has added a fourth giraffe to their tower, the term for a group of giraffes. Her name is Amelia and she’s two years old.
Amelia arrived in March and spent time learning her habitat and getting acclimated to the keepers before joining the other giraffes. “She is very sweet and curious. (The) keepers love her!” Debbie Fuchs, the N.C. Zoo’s public relations officer said.
The zoo hopes to pair Amelia with the male giraffe, Jack.
The past few years have seen a number of new additions to the zoo, with baby southern white rhinos, baby chimps and two new Komodo dragons.
