North Carolina colleges are sending a few more baseball players to the major leagues soon.

Jared Shuster is a left-handed pitcher from Wake Forest University who was drafted by the Atlanta Braves. He is the fifth Deacon to be a top 50 pick in the past five years, according to the Winston-Salem Journal. The season was cut short this year, so the southpaw has continued working on his game from home in Massachusetts.

“For a while it was just like, maintenance stuff, and just staying ready in case there were any pre-draft showcases or anything,” Shuster said. “So right now just an offseason-based lifting schedule and throwing schedule.”

Out of North Carolina State University, Patrick Bailey was selected by the San Francisco Giants. The catcher is a Greensboro native and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins as a senior in high school, but decided to stick with his commitment to NCSU, the Greensboro News and Record reports.
