The Research Triangle Park was named the 10th emerging startup hub in the world according to a new study. Charlotte and Wilmington also made the list among the top 100, pointing to the growth and strength of North Carolina’s tech and life science ecosystem, according to WRAL TechWire.

One tech CEO says the study is good news for North Carolina.

“Within the category of mature ecosystems, top contenders are the usual suspects one would expect; Silicon Valley and NYC for example,” said Thom Rhue, CEO of the NC IDEA Foundation in Durham. “Rather promising for North Carolina however, is that multiple ecosystems ranked in the top 100 Emerging Ecosystems category.”

Other studies have pointed to the Triangle as the best area in the nation for startups, an important growth engine for the global economy.

The Triangle scored highly across the three key scales, including Exit Growth, Investor Activity and Funding Growth, according to WRAL TechWire.
